Pt. is wearing Varilux Comfort with -8.25+1.75x160 add +2.25. No eye issues. Heavy 14" laptop use at 15" distance. Why would you recommend staying with Varilux or Zeiss GT2 or Hoya ECP?

There is a lot of assurance using something that you know already works.
Why even suggest a progressive at all? Why not a SV or Ft with compensated for distance rx?
You did say heavy use-why cripple the patient with a progressive?
Well it is my understanding that the patient has no issues or problems with the Comfort.
Touche.
Ok, you got me on that. I agree that if patient is not having a problem with current pair in this situation, stick with what works.
But, maybe the patient doesn't realize they even have a *problem* until someone educates and demonstrates alternative options for various tasks and functions that they perform!
I wonder if "pocovision" is short-sighted? :)
My opinion: if the patient is happy wearing an out-dated, over-marketed, more-than-a-decade-old lens, then it really doesn't matter what you put 'em into. Personally, I would do computer glasses AND another pair for everyday use. If only one pair is the limit, then I really believe you won't go wrong with any you've mentioned; but consider something like the Image and have a higher profit margin and a satisfied customer.
How high are you fitting your, er, the patients PALs?;)

15 mm.
I am almost identical Rx and have previously worn the Varilux comfort. It's a good lens, but nowhere near as good as the GT2. Distance seems like a single vision lens, while near and intermediate are clearer and wider. It's like high definition T.V. compared to regular T.V. The only people who have not experienced the WOW effect from this lens suffer from some visual defect not corrected by glasses.

This thread can end now. PocoVision is a consumer. (S)He has PM'd me and I have respectfully suggested (s)he leave the decision in the hands of the ECP chosen to provide his/her eyewear needs.
