    Unhappy Digital Surfacing

Has anyone else out there found that people are preferring their Varilux Comfort or Panamic lenses to their new Physio ones? I have had people not that thrilled as we have converted many people to Physio. They seem happier to go back to the Comfort of Panamic. Why would this be? Any theories or similar experiences?

    You did say Physio?
Physio is not a digital or “free form” lens. It's a molded semi-finished lens that is conventionally surfaced on the back by any Varilux lab.

This reference to digital surfacing points out the confusion a few of the major lens companies have created in the market place. Now digitally made lenses are referred to by manufactures as a traditional PAL made in a mold that was made using digital surfacing.

In if you look into the details of true digitally surfaced lenses their quality is a result of machine and software design.

Essilor has two Physio product lines -

Physio, which is NOT digital surfaced and can be provided by any Varilux distributor,

and Physio360, which is digital surfaced.
