    Lightbulb Software

    I went with Other.
It is important to be user friendly, but, it is also important to have support, and a complete package. I write software and the biggest complaint I get from customers is, 'I wish It could do this".

Software that is proven to work and not crash is also high on my list of items.

We use "Genie" at work. It is not user friendly but very reliable.

    My 2 cents

    Depends . . .

Independent Optical Shops don't hang on Inventory as chains do.
All want easy order entry with clean portals to 3rd party.
In OD or Optical/OD offices scheduling is nice.
    Autopricing is critical.
3rd party lookups with benefits on a database saves a lot of time because most patients don't know what the benefit is.
Order transmitting on line right now or in batches three times a day would be nice.
Integrated frame catalog would be nice but doesn't have to be.
    Business reports are absolutely critical.
Day sheet/closing, deposit slip, frame useage, sales activity by employee and items, return for credit tracking, time and wages, comp store tracking (LY figs, TY, goal setting)

I'd like to see vendors cosponsor paying for software and also accept electronic orders on frames right off the entry screen.

If you have a couple hours we could talk some more.
