    Pt. venting

How many of you just breath and **** off a pt?
This pt is the doc’s friend from a hundred years ago. Logic would reveal I am cordial to the whole family but it only seems to **** them ALL off. This time it seems that I ticked her off again, I have pawned the whole family to the younger staff member. She says I said I would hold on to her old lenses. I talked to her briefly but I don’t recall ever mentioning holding/saving old lenses. I have tried being nice still ticking them off. Now I am at the point where the younger staff member services them. This has become almost funny if it wasn't doc's friends.
Dealing with patients makes me want to go work in records the only voice I hear would be my own.:hammer:

    Ciao,
    Yvette

Never throw away old lenses. Learned that probably 30 + years ago. Now that it's too late, remake her old lenses and just tell her that they were found. You won't win ,regardless.

I learned the hard way too. I went through the dumpster looking for old lenses. Now, when i dispense the glasses in pt old frame, I put the old lenses in a frame baggy and hand it to them. Most of the time, they ask me to throw them away.

The last few years of my dispensing career, I got to the point where I gave them back to the patient, they would say "throw them away" and I would say "it's my responsibility to give them back to you, you can do whatever you'd like with them" ...

Dumpster diving for lenses is no fun ... :o

Yep, in fact at this very moment there are a pair of old brake pads sitting in a box in my car. They just give it back to you without asking. This is so no one will say they did not put the new ones on I think.

Never never throw the old lenses away. Always give them back, they can throw them away if needed, but I always suggest that they be kept unless the RX has changed drastically.

in the lab,we even send back the lenses that came from the factory. done my share of looking in all the nasty places and remaking knowing patient will just throw them away.
