How has its use affected time of Exam? Any tips?
AFAIK, we haven't had a peep of trouble today. :bbg:
We are going live with officemate this friday, 03/16/07. I'm sure our doctor would be interested in any input on the exam writer as we did purchase that also. Anyone have any input on the software in general. We are moving from RLI to Officemate.
Whit,
What other systems did you look at? My company is looking to change software and leaning towards Office mate, but they want to compare with a couple of others. Let me know what you found out.
Thanks
I don't know right off hand. I can try to find out for you. I really don't think they looked at much other than OM
Didn't really check into anything else, because Officemate is converting all our data over for us and offered great discounts for switching from RLI to their system!
i'll check back with you in a couple of
weeks to see what you think, if that is OK
That will be fine.
We love it. ExamWriter has a userfriendly interface that allows the doc to imput much more info quicker than a standard form. Newly updated to include HPI, orientation and disposition (elements now required for Medicare). Reports can be created with a few mouse clicks.
OfficeMate has a lot of benefits, here are a few:
-Rx is never hand written. For us the final Rx goes from the phoropter to the dispensing area to the lab (eyefinity integration now available) without manual entry.
-pricing for all products is set in the program (your fee schedule), patients don't worry that you are giving them a different price. All discounts, insurance or otherwise, are tabulated nicely on the receipt, showing the pt how much was saved, if applicable.
-instant access to patients information. need last order, last exam date, ledger balance, Rx, etc? just pull up the patient file. No call backs to patients because you have to pull a paper file.
-definite wow factor for patients. They will be impressed by your high tech office.
-reorder all frames sold with a few clicks of the mouse.
I could go on -
a couple of notes:
-invest in a high-quality network--hefty workstations, gigabyte ethernet and business-class server. like all windows software, the minimums listed are just that.
-expect a learning curve. the first few weeks we were pulling our hair out at times. Offiicemate does have quite a bit of support available.
-like it or not, EMR will eventually be required (could be as soon as 2010). better to start sooner rather than later.
We did not really look at other systems, OfficeMate looked the best in 2005, and integrated with the Marco Epic 2100 system, so it was our first choice. We love it in our office. I'll be happy to answer questions, post here or pm
Kevin
Sorry to revive the thread, but how have things gone with ExamWriter?
We've had OfficeMate for 4.5 years now and are quite happy with it. Looking to add ExamWriter. What's good, what's bad? Does it work well with wireless?
-Steve
Exam writer is wonderful.. once you start using it, you'll wonder what you did without it. There's a few threads in the ODwire.org archives about which EMR's are better, but I've become used to EW.
