Smilie Any Cycling Opticians Out There?

I am new to the forum and wondering if there are any cyclists out there. (Bicycles not motorcycles!) I have been working with a local Lions Club that does a fund raising ride for sight. They support "New Eyes Fot the Needy", guide dogs, etc. I feel my time and effort is going for a good cause so it is easier to ask for donations.

    Tailwinds, Mary

PS - what do you ride?

Hi Mary and welcome to OptiBoard!

I'm not a big cyclist but I do manage to get in 15-20 miles per week. The hills around here provide a nice challenge and good exercise.

Now if I could just find a more comfortable bike seat!

Hi Mary. Which Lions Club should the check be made out to and where could we send it in?

In my haste to get through all my messages this morning I neglected to see the part about donations. Let us know what we need to do to contribute!

I didn't mean to be making a solicitation for donations but that would be great. The ride is not until August though and I have not recieved information yet. I will let you know.

If you have ever thought about doing one of these types of rides, get your bike out and start pedaling. We all need to be physically fit and why not take advantage of a sport where sweat actually evaporates!

    Speaking of Cycling

Has anyone ever been able to find out why the Harley~Davidson line of frames was designed for such a wimpy group of prepies. You would think that they would have gotten VonDutch or someone to make somehing with primary chains, air cleaners, spokes, or something macho about them,

I can remember when I called about being a dealer and asked: "How many frames do I have to buy to get a Hog!" They actually replied: "What's a Hog Sir?"

I like your idea of biking for the fun of it. The fund raiser concept is gravy. Now I can fulfill the image some have of me as an optical
    peddler.

I just hit the 1000 mile mark on my bike this week! Of course, it's taken me almost two years to do it. However considering I don't ride for about six months each year (too cold and wet) I still think that's not too bad! :)
