Carl Zeiss Vision Launches SOLA Compact ULTRA Progressive Lenses
for Small and Ultra-Small Frames

Carl Zeiss Vision (CZV) has announced the release of Compact ULTRA, the next- generation progressive lens for small frames with a minimum fitting height of 13mm.

“Since the launch of the original Compact in 1999, small frames have taken a larger and larger share of frame inventory and have become a larger share of lens sales. Ultra-small frames, requiring fitting heights as low as 13mm, have become increasingly common,” said Steve Mitrakos, Vice President of Marketing and Strategy. “The challenge for eye care professionals has been to fit progressive wearers in the full range of small frames while still providing plenty of reading area. Compact ULTRA meets this challenge by providing one lens design that satisfies dispensing needs across a full range of fitting heights, from 18mm down to 13mm, with unsurpassed reading area.”

The key to Compact ULTRA’s small-frame performance is a revolutionary 9mm corridor. This allows excellent reading vision even at 13mm. At the same time, the patented design offers a soft, smooth geometry, excellent binocularity, low skew distortion, and peak astigmatism that is lower than many leading short corridor progressive lenses.

According to Mitrakos, “Compact ULTRA delivers outstanding results for the full range of small and ultra-small frames. Eye care professionals can now offer progressive wearers the small frames they want, while giving them the excellent all-around vision they need.”

Compact ULTRA is available in 1.67 High Index, Polycarbonate, and Hard Resin, with all three materials offered in clear and Transitions®.
