If you choose poly as a material it won't go to the calculate screen until you've corrected your mistakes. SRC will accept either factory coat or TD-2.
Good luck to you!!

Don't worry about what is appropriate to bill VSP. They take care of themself. There is no possible way to find a hole in the pricing to exploit. If the scratch coating doesn't cost you extra (i.e. on poly), then VSP won't give you extra $ and won't let you charge the patient.
Why would you even think of doing that? :finger: Tell me what city you are in so in case I retire I will not go to you.
Another thing. Read your vsp provider manual. It is very easy to understand and answers just about any question you may have. I believe it is very specific on what you can bill your patients regarding options. And as you have been told you would not be allowed to put it through the lab that way unless you did not tell them that you charged the patient which would of course be unethical to say the least.

It is not appropriate to bill anything other than what is allowed by your contract!
They do audit!!
You'll find many threads and posts about the 800 pound gorilla called vsp on this site. I suggest you peruse them. You can make a profit and grow your patient base with them but there are times you will find the old joke holds true-
Question-"Why are you beating your head against the wall?"
Answer- "Because it feels so good when I stop!"
Short answer: No. VSP considers anything that is already in the lens to be part of the lens. You can only bill for what you add to the lens: example, if you add a super scratch coating like TD2 or Foundation XT you can bill for that.
Listen to Uncle Fester; he knows whereof he speaks. :)

I don't know of any insurance that would let you bill for for items that are part of the lens. You shouldn't get billed by your lab for standard scratch resistance on poly, transitions or progressives either. I'm pretty sure that no matter what insurance company you are billing, they would consider this fraud.
