I worked for them in AZ as a license and then manager. License pay was slightly lower than what I could have gotten elsewhere, but with some benefits. We were only allowed 37.5 hrs./wk. Had to work Sundays. The TVs and Bose sound demonstrations get pretty old pretty quick, and having to wear an "Ask me about Brittany Spears Eyewear!" button was a little embarrasing. We had to troop around the club and seek members to have vision screenings. Basically, we begged for customers. Also, Costco was selling some of the same frames with the same lenses for less, and we were not allowed to comp (angry members). At the time I was there, the WM labs were maddening. We were the second string of Wal-Mart opticals. I honestly think I had to reject at least one of every ten jobs. We had one order in process for over 6 months. I finally convinced the Club Manager to let me take the job to a local lab and get it done right.
DO NOT BECOME A MANAGER!!! Work 45 hrs./wk. for slightly more money, and endure the 4:30 A.M. inventories with somebody who dosen't know anything about contact lenses. Also, lots of pressure to make profit when the lab sends you crap, they treat your department as a loss leader, and you are NOT supported whatsoever on employee issues.
I also worked for Costco as an hourly employee. MUCH BETTER!! Great pay and benefits. Awesome lab. Happier customers, and the time flies. The Scottsdale, AZ store had to do "take-a-number" for a while. You never sit down. Patient picks frames and comes to counter. You take P.D., dot the seg, type in the computer, take the money, and say "next". No assistance with frame styles. If you like combat optical, Costco is the way to go.
Starting to remind me of...

A lack of planning on your part DOES NOT constitute an emergency on mine!
Ummm... confused as usual. :(
