    +8.00-base-wrap-compensated SV by Sola?

Did I see this, in the trade literature? I can't find it, now.

Some special name, technical sounding, acronym? ELS? Something?

    Please help.

(I thought Shamir did one, too, in 1.6, but no luck on their website :P)

Spazio. Zeiss/Sola produces these in compensated rx per each individual job.

Shamir is doing "Atitude". It is basically an +8 BC blank. The rx is not compensated as Zeiss/Sola is doing.

You can also try our fellow member Awtech. His company, ICE-TECH Technologies does the very same thing. www.ice-tech.com or 1-888-ICE-TECH.

    Good luck.

Shamir has the Attitude line of lenses for high wrap frames. You can specify your own compensation using one of the various formulas put up by Darryl, and many others.

    Thanks, Fezz, that's it...

Asked Marchon to do it (Nikemax) but they said "no" for a non-Nike frame.

I think this is an aspheric front surface that is spherically double surfaced to cut the backside thickness. (similar to the Sola Spazio method)

At ICE-TECH we use a front Spherical curve compensated and with a backside aspherical surface that is produced using Thin-ICE Technology which leaves a maximum lens thickness of 3 to 4 mm in most cases, even with an 8 base front curve with a -6.00 Rx.

I looked at the site. Is the lens available in polycarb, trivex, transition ? Is it available in a plano lens ?

My understanding is poly and c-39 only. I am sure they will do a plano for you.....pretty expensive plano though!

I hav etwo questions that I think I already know, but will ask any way for the benefit of the forum:

    1. Is there a line visible like the double back surfaced lenses?
    2. Does the aspherics optimize for vision, thickness, or both?

I believe I already know the answer to these questions, but I think these questions also help to define the technology and quality behind your lenses.

    ICE-TECH lens optimization

    ANSWERS:

1-The visible non-optical portion is outside the needed vision area. The blending area is dependant on the frame and prescription. It is not a hard line, but a blending, similar to the non-optical area of a PAL.

2- Remember aspheric means non-spherical. We optimize the surface for the Rx. We don't give a lot of details about the type of aspheric designs that we use. They do what they are designed to do and that is provide excellent vision for wrap around eyewear. I hope you understand that the competitive nature of the business prevents us from telling exactly how we produce these designs.

Actually #2 did answer my question. It would be both, the vision is optimized with aspherics and the edge is optimized for thickness with aspherics. Thanks and I 'll see you at VEE.
