GK Optical based out of Greenwood Indiana
Interstate Optical out of Mansfield, OH

These are two of the labs I have package deal with.

Another that I have info on, but have not personally tried is SEOCO out of Champaign, IL. They looked good. However I am currently happy with my independent labs.

It is Essilor labs I am having issues with.

Cassandra why arent you using Interstate out of Indianapolis, IN? I guess maybe cause of VSP huh.

We currently exclusively use Interstate, both Indy and Mansfield. (Mansfield only for VSP jobs though)

Interstate does have good frame packages, we use their Value packages for backup pairs of glasses for our contact lens wearers who dont want to spend a lot of money on a "spare pair". :D

The main office is the Mansfield one, so that is why I listed it.

Trust me, I have nothing but love for the local team. Been very thrilled with their service. Not the cheapest, but certainly one of the best! Same with GK. I don't mind paying a couple of dollars more a job if I get it done right the first time, and back in a couple of days, and not weeks.

Brian is the Lab Manager for the Indianapolis Interstate. He impressed me when he called me about a trial job I sent them. Had one of the corporate owned labs screw up a job 3 times for a patient. Took them 2 weeks each time to get the lenses back to me. The third time I was so mad I sent the job back to them, told them not to redo it, and I was sending it elsewhere.

When I sent it to Interstate, I included a note stating specifically what the problem had been. The lenses were crazing like crazy due to using a 1.0 finished lens and it was flexing too much in the frame. So by the time the lenses were inserted, and then adjusted, the lenses were not fit to wear. Brian called me and we talked about lens processing, and knowing when to use finished product and when to surface to get a slightly thicker center to prevent the problem. He processed them the way I wanted, and then called me to ask me how they worked for the patient a week later. Not many lab managers will go out of their way like that.

Then the rep for GK helped me get a display from an optical around the block from me to refinish and use in my own. He just happened to have a trailer hooked to his truck and got dirty with me to get it from someone's back room. He didn't have to do this, he volunteered. Just the same as he helped another doctor hang up frame boards, and helped many other opticals. Combine that with a lab that provides excellent service and will deal with patients directly if needed...well that is first class.
