    Seeking Vision Plan Benefit

We have decided to provide a vision plan benefit to our employees and their dependents. I would appreciate some suggestions and contact info. We are seeking to participate in a formal plan since we have people in multiple states.

Why not go to some of the independents in your area and see what kind of discounts you can negotiate for your employees (free exam & 20% off on materials). That's what we do for groups. The employees never even know the boss is getting it for free, we get customers, and he looks like a hero. We make up cards along with welcome letters, mugs w/ our logo filled w/candy, office brochures and anything else that will elt the employees know that they have a good plan.

    $0, no plan, no way.
Maybe your money would be better spent in offering a reimbursement plan funded by the company. Lets use $250 as an example. You give $250 back on 1 eyewear purchase per year. If they balk, phoey on them. They can buy up from that $250 and self fund the difference.
Lots of ways to work this one out without buying into the false insurance utopia.

Assuming you already have a health plan in place why not ask them what they have to offer that might tie in. Probably the least expensive of all the plans are the Exam only plans. Pays a set amount on the exam, say 65.00. The rest is up to the employees. VSP offers one of those as do many others. Not everyone needs a vision correction, but everyone needs an annual eye exam.

    not offered

Our current group health plan does not offer an eye care benefit. We are only seeking formal plans since we have people in multiple states. This is an employee benefit.

Wouldn't a company funded reimbursement be a employee benefit?
I would assume that your company dollars would be better spent giving your employees a set amount rather than buying into the delusion that Ins. plans are better

My $.02 for what its worth.

    IRS rules

We use a cafeteria plan for employee benefits. Using IRS rules it is just easier to offer a uniform plan for employees. I am only seeking information on formal eye care benefit plans.
