Funny this thread is around. I just got my Tura catalog today. Low and behold, a fine display of Billy's work.
When you try and master the skill set that Billy Brock displays in his work, you will realize it is art. For those that don't have the skill or the drive they will always see it as scratching lenses and super glue. It is definately not for everyone, I have sold a few etched lenses and have even set stones into lenses and I can tell you it's not easy or super glue.

Thank you sooooo much for the warm support. There is nothing better than a pat on the back from such an accomplished group.
The 2007 Tura has just been delivered and it holds the debut of my new GL series of designs. They encompass an elevated level of intricate curves and shapes with some new color combinations.
Once again you have made my day: without the members of OptiBoard, my designs would have no sparkle ! !
Best regards to you all for a prosperous new year,

My friend's company is making some interesting product now
1) 3 piece mount titanium eyewear with facets and stones. He is using 1.61 index lenses.
2) Bamboo eyeglasses - full frame and semi-rimless. The look is heavy for my taste but was very beautiful.
3) Horn and Titanium eyewear. Horn temples with titanium fronts. Is horn still in demand?
He will be exhibiting at Vision Expo East.

You got that right! Give me a tube of crazy glue, a bottle of glitter, a soldering iron and some pipe cleaners, and I'll make the Rhinestone Cowboy look like Fred Flinstone!
(Does anyone know where I can find the gold stick-on ,miniature tennis rackets? Chicks dig those too!)
I'm out of tennis rackets. How about zodiac signs, got them!
DocInChina-
I do still sell horn, but it seems to be only in demand for higher-income types, and is something people either love or hate. I have seen many plastics lately done in a faux horn finish, those have been selling very well for me!
CocoIsland,
Through my web search on this topic, I have indirectly found your post on this question and you don't know how excited I am to communicate with someone who actually did this work. I too ordered a lot of these treatments back in the 70's (from The Lens and Eye in Glendale, CA). Can you tell me what type of engraving machine was used? Did it come with the stencils? What type of paint was used and was it "cured" in some way to make it more permanent? How were the stones mounted?
Thank you.
