    weco 440 ?

I have a weco 440 when I start it the pattern is faceing me (nasal) for right eye during the cycle it has a little hesitation and at the end of cycle
the pattern ends in a differnt position? this does not happen on my other weco 440. will this cause the axis to be off? but I think as long as its following the pattern it will not be off axis no matter where it ends up..
But still I wonder why it ends up in different positions....

    Thank you......

    Its Been a while!

Gemstone is right. It has been a while since I worked on one. But, I did have the misfortune of having to move two of them yesterday. If I remember right, I believe there is a way to adjust=but don't remember. You may have to replace the switch. The micro swithces should be on the left side " box" while looking directly at the machine. Some have the "box" in the back. The box is where the power and pump cord attach. I will look tonight and see if I can find a manual. Hopefully someone with way more experience than me will chime in.

To satisfy yourself on the axis , cut a cylindrical power lens at a certain layout axis and then insert it into the frame , then see if it is on or off axis .

No matter where it starts or finishes , it should still be on axis unless the axis adjusting clamp screws are loose. Check those clamp screws . Next check the microswitch mounting screws and brackets for tightness and check that the micro switch is good and working . Also check that the lens spindle chains and belts are not worn and slipping or jumping .

The proper position may be in the book. The Micro switch "rack" may only need to be swung in a tad. There was a consultant that was with Coburn that knew Wecos well. Last I heard he had his own consulting bus. I do not have any contact info Jack was his name. Maybe some one can provide a phone #. You will need metric allens.

Does this edger have a toothed drive belt? I had an AIT Mark edger that kept stopping before the lens returned to it's proper park position. I adjusted the microswitches like crazy, but it still didn't park right. Turned out the toothed drive belt was worn and was skipping a tooth.

I have an Essilor profil edger with a similiar problem, and the fix was to lubricate the shaft bearings that the belts run on..they were gunked up, and making it hard for the motor to turn the shaft.

    The belt is skipping

You either have a worn drive belt, or there is crud built up in the teeth of the drive gears that the belt runs on. It's also possible that the belt tensioners (the white nylon rollers that keep tension on the belt) aren't tight enough. Usually it's a belt that's worn or stretched, and they aren't much fun to replace... :(
