    RXP II question

Just getting into surfacing and I bought a bunch of older equipment from somebody. They included RXP II floppies and CD's. The CD appears to have the same contents as the floppies, but I can't get the program to either install on my hard drive or run from the floppy.

It says something about not being the original disk and then gets out of the program.

Am I missing a master floppy installation disk? I don't know much about this program, other than GC doesn't support it anymore since it's so old.

Note that I'm not asking for a copy or that I'm trying to steal software, so let's please not flame me.

    Thanks for any help.

    -Steve

I used the RXP III. With that program you needed a little device that plugged into the back and the printer cable was plugged into that. Without it the program would not let you completely run it.

I'm using Windows 2000, but I also tried to run it out of regular DOS and that didn't work either.

Does anybody know if that was the case for RXP II?

    Thanks!

you may be able to get an emulator from someone to emulate the dongle that would plug into the back of the printer port.

I don't recall that the RXPII ever used a dongle, but I recall that it did have some kind of copy-protection on the diskette that would prevent a copy from running.

Takes me back some years, but it seems there was a "key" that you needed to plug into the serial port, or someplace that allowed the program to run. It was a method to protect copies, etc. without some form of payment to Coburn. You could purchase a key if the software had to run on multiple PCs.

It is by universal misunderstanding that all agree. For if, by ill luck, people understood each other, they would never agree.
