Football Players

Is there any valid optical reason for the black line of grease paint some football players still wear under there eyes? I assume they feel it keeps the sun out of their eyes but for the life of me I can't figure out how this would be effective. Thanks

I'm a dedicated 'Skins fan as are my daughters. Even when they're playing so badly, they still look good in those pants! Sorta like aviation guys, including my husband, look good in flight suits.
