Calling all Mac OS X users!

THREAD HAS ALREADY SERVED IT'S PURPOSE.
    SEE ...
    http://www.optiboard.com/forums/show...5&postcount=11

NO REAL NEED TO READ ANY FURTHER!

    OptiBoard Advanced Search inputs:
    http://img123.imageshack.us/img123/1...4090640dz2.png

    OptiBoard Advanced Search outputs:
    http://img355.imageshack.us/img355/5...4090744lo4.png

    THAT AIN'T RIGHT!

I asked for all of rinselberg's (995) posts, but it only gave me the 61 threads that I have started.

I used Safari Version 2.0.4 (419.3) on Mac OS X Version 10.4.8 ... and I have a Mac mini with the 1.66 GHz Intel Core Duo architecture.

I've seen this before; then reported it was working right - but now I see it again. I think that for some reason, it's not picking up on the check box input at the bottom left that selects between Show Results as Threads v. Posts ...

If you would like to help confirm this for me, please repeat what I did. Search exactly as I did (above), using "rinselberg". If that works OK, try searching with your own user name - which is parallel to what I did.

If you do this, please report your results and your software and hardware versions, as I did (above).

I used Safari Version 2.0.4 (419.3) on Mac OS X Version 10.4.8 on my iBook G4 1.2 Ghz

    Using: Default Optiboard Settings

    Showing results 1 to 25 of 459
Search took 0.21 seconds; generated 15 minute(s) ago. Search: Posts Made By: rinselberg

    Using: Your Screen Shot Settings
    Showing results 1 to 25 of 62
Search took 0.08 seconds; generated 15 minute(s) ago. Search: Posts Made By: rinselberg

Also, i tried Firefox/Mozilla 1.5.0.8 and got the same exact results on my iBook G4 1.2 Ghz.

    Hope this helps.

P.S. I can't try my hubby's Mac Book Pro Dual Core thingy at the moment
since I don't have access to it.

    Thanks Snitgirl.

But I'm not sure what you meant by "Default" OptiBoard Settings? Was that using the Advanced Search function, or just the very simple Search function that comes up when you click on the Search button at the top of the OB forums display? I'm not able to work backwards from those results (459) posts to your inputs.

And where you said "Using Your (=me) Screen Shot Settings - I'm a little skeptical. I made the following inputs:

    select "Find Posts by User"
    check "Exact name"
enter rinselberg into User Name field
    select Search All Open Forums
    check Show Results as Posts

If you would like to post again, please include screen shots of your search inputs - the OB window exactly as you set it up, right before you click on Go or click on Search Now.

    Ron,
I don't know what's up using the search engine, but if you click on your name in the post above you should be able to see all the posts you've made. I just checked it and you had 500 or some odd and they're listed in lots of 25. Try it and see if you get what you wanted

PS to gnogin- you're style set can be changed in your cp. you have a couple of choices.....alas Pete's Bumblebee and Maria's Lilac are no longer there!

    Thanks Harry.

I was already aware of that. That's User Profile or Member page.

What I'm trying to confirm (or not confirm) is that there is something about the OptiBoard Advanced Search function that does not jive with my particular Mac configuration or ones that are closely like it.

I am not suggesting that anything further needs to be done about it. I know that Steve has posted that he does not have any Macs available for testing. It's not a practical issue for me.

I would like to document this, and also make sure that I am not just making some kind of input error - although I have scrutinized my search inputs again and again and cannot see any kind of dumb-up on my part.

Although Steve may not have Macs for testing, maybe a review of this will ring some kind of bell for someone and reveal something in the OptiBoard or vBulletin software that could be improved.

    Yours truly.

    Thanks gnogin.

You sure that you did not get 62 results?

I can't figure how it could be 61, because this is thread number 62 that I have started.

What Harry is talking about - well it's right at the top of this post, where I refer to OptiBoard Red ...

    OK!

I figured it out. My mistake.

It is also necessary to select Search Entire Posts up at the top left corner, where it says Key Word(s) ...

I didn't think that was necessary, or the way that it used to work before recently - but my recall about that could be mistaken.

Thread has already served its purpose!

Actually I just discovered something else that I had not noticed before.

At the very bottom left of the OptiBoard window there is a selection box for the forum skin. Right now mine is set to OptiBoard Red. But this is a fast way to change the color/style of your OptiBoard windows.

Acknowledged. You did not interpret the intent of my very first post. But no matter. It's already DONE!

Unfortunately, I cannot advise you on JAVA.

    Yours truly.
