    Smilie Half Full?

This is going to sound very strange coming from me, but there is a way for conservatives to view this election optimisticly.

    1) We may be ride of the war problem by the next election.

    2) After two years of watching Nancy Pallozi as speaker of the house, Democrats will be willing to kiss any Republican on sight!

Yeah, now they can try to blame the dems for losing the war, and all of their other foreign policy fiascoes.

If it wasn't so sad it would be funny. What happens next in Iraq is not going to be pretty, for our country and the middle east. Look at the options- send 300,000 more troops, partition Iraq, or get out and let the Iraqi people fight it out between themselves.

Letting the Iraquis fight it out for themselves sounds ideal. Only problem is they like to share the violence with the rest of the world. I dont think anyone anywhere in the world has a good stradgey to get out of this mess.

    war on the road

One of the best lines I remember on TV was in the last episode of M*A*S*H. Radar walks into the scene and announces that the war is over. Hawkeye replies " Its not really over, they have just decided to pack it up and take it on the road to another location."

Last time Clinton was in the White House and the U.S. was attacked (USS Cole) there was almost no responce.

Well I would bet that if Hilary or Nancy decided to run... Condoleza will be "highly" encouraged to run on the Republican ticket as well.

    Immagine this:

Hillary and Nancy meet in the White House. Both of them get so stirred in a yelling, bit*hing, screaming match that the entire staff, including the secret service is out on the white house lawn.

We will soon seen Hillary and Nancy vieing for the political limelight over the next two years. It's gonna be very entertaining.

Pelosi has it, cause she can build consensus better, and Hillary has too much political baggage....Whether earned or not, many people can't stand her.

This war is a real catch 22. How many young soldiers will died over their in Iraq, Afghanistan before the power that be deiced to pull out. When they do it will be a free for all and USA ,Canada, Great Britain will be view as weak by the insurents and we will see more Terrorist attack in the world. If we stay the coarse there will be thousand of young people dying need less . My vote is to get out and deal with the after mat.

And remember the Cole happened in Oct of 2000. There were just a couple of months left, and as the 9/11 Commission Report states, Clinton wanted to react, but there was no sufficient evidence to prove that Bin Laden was behind it. He was asking for it, but he was never given it.

And It's not like Bush did anything about the Cole when he took office. He completely ignored terrorism until 9/11

I personally am upset with our government for the way they have handled the war. Instead of focusing on the things that obviously matter to the american people, they are squabling over who gets what contracts over in Iraq. War has always been about money and it is making a few very wealthy as we speak, while the american public is going to foot the bill later. Unfortunately later means in someone elses presidency.

Another scary thing is that Bush has passed into law a bunch of laws that won't go into effect untill after his presidency and make the next guy/gal (probably democrat) take the hit for all his idiocity. For example a national ID law that will go into effect in 2008.

He may look like an idiot and talk like an idiot, but that man is just plain evil if you ask me and I can't wait untill we as a country start to see the aftermath of what he has created, then I can stop argueing about how horrible he is for our country.

    Fight to win

The real problem today is a war is not really a war. In a real war both sides throw everything they have at each other until one side surrenders. If we had gone to war and lowered the boom on them we would not be having this discussion. Until we become as determined and as ruthless as they are it will never end. If they were in control in this country your a** would'nt be worth a plug nickel.

And in one thing Bush was right. The war ended when he was on the carrier. It's an occupation now and has been since then.

Unfoutunatly there is no right or easy way out of this one. Outside the White House and CIA who really knows whats really happening? After the USS Cole was attacked who knows what really happened? I think the White Houses feeling at that time was terrorism was someone elses problem and the best course of action was DIVERT ATTENTION ASAP!!!!!!!!!!!

Around the time Bush Jr. made the "crusade" speech most people missed a crucial point he was makeing. He basicly said the population will never know whats really happening, only what they want us to know.

Agree or dont, I think there are as many reasons for the current war as there are theories.

Agreed, but we made our decisions to go to war based on the lies.

Lies only because of omission, The reason,IMHO, that we are in Iraq has every thing to do with oil. Not in the way that most of the Dem's think(money for Bush's) but for national preservation reasons. The powers that be realize that if OPEC turns off the tap the country will have a melt down in about a month. We(USA) needed a foot hold in the middle east to insure that we could have access to the oil. Why Iraq, it was the easiest to invade in regards to international public opinion. Get use to the fact that we are there, We will have bases there a hundred years from now.

I don't think we'll be out of the war in a year and the bit about Pellosi is just silly.

If something good comes out of this election for the Republicans it'll be a reassesment of the value of 'core' or 'base' voting groups. The christian fundi groups barely pushed GW over the line in 2004, got him close in 2000 and stayed home or defected this time around. It was never a 'mandate' and sometimes barely a plurallity. If the party is smart they'll drop Karl, go back to the values that worked so well for them in the past (small government, social lazie faire, fiscal conservatism).

    tells us the benefits.

I can list a bunch of failures behind it
    • Increase of terrorism in the World
    • The introduction of Al-Quada forces in Iraq
    • Children not being able to go to school
    • People not being able to go to the hospital
    • People not being able to leave their houses
    • Death toll quickly rising to the level that Saddam left in the 80s
    • Increase fear in the nation
    • Waste of money
    • Waste of American lives
    • Political vaccuum
    • New civil war like atmosphere
    • Lost focus on Afganistan

When the extremists blow up (conventional or nuclear) Gharwar, the world's biggest field, we'll all be f*ucked. It's going to happen within the next ten years, and the sooner we get weaned from oil the less chance they're going to throw western civilization back to the stone age.

We need an energy policy that's funded like the Manhattan Project, ramping up existing technology, developing new methods of energy production, and we need to do it now.
