    Confused Rimless Help

I operate a small wholesale lab. One of our accounts sent in two pairs of glasses to put new lenses into. They are both Silhouette 3 piece rimless frames, the ones with the plastic temples and metal bridge. We have run into a problem. The bridge mountings use the standard 1.4mm plastic sleeves, however the plastic temples use a larger 2.0mm hole and sleeve. I am unaware of anywhere to get the 2.0mm sleeves. The 1.4mm sleeves are available from almost every supply vendor, but no luck on finding the larger sleeves. I have contacted Silhouette three times now over the past two weeks and haven't gotten anywhere but transfered back to my territory rep(still waiting on a callback from 2 weeks ago)! Well I'm a lab and therefore don't have a direct account etc... Can anyone PLEASE help me. Is there somewhere else that I might be able to get these larger 2.0mm rimless sleeves?

The account doesn't have an account with Silhouette. The patient purchased these from some other office and now my account is ordering lenses in old frames. We have never had a problem as most all frames use the standard 1.4mm sleeves. Hilco, Sadler etc... all sell the 1.4mm sleeves only and not the 2.0mm sleeves.

Check with your other accounts, non-customers, other labs (may have to pay through the nose), your family, your friends, your enemies.

    FYI-

Silhouette sleeves are made of a special material which have been developed to apply the optimum performance of the mount. Also they do not degrade as fast as aftermarket sleeves. It is advised by Silhouette that you use only their sleeves in their products for complete consumer satisfaction.

    Scott found the problem

    Scott,
I have also heard (but have no experience) that Silhouette's sleeves are better than others. And that is why the rep won't call the lab back. Silhouette claims that there are certain groups that are using their sleeves for other frame brands. So Silhouette tries to control their distribution.

I read that VCA was trying to convince manufacturers to allow "parts only" accounts for labs. Don't know how far this has gotten.
