    Shamir Creation

Hey guys, I've been hearing some really good things about this lens and the doc here has been getting good buzz from people on the Optconlist. Any of you have experience with it? Comparable to Physio or iD?

I'd love to get some feedback on it.

    Love It!

I have used the Creation several times now. So far I have yet to have a patient say anything but "Wow!"

Have used successfully with by hyperopes and myopes, first time wearers and previous. Lowest Add was 125 and highest 250.

Previous designs I have switched them from include the Comfort, Panamic, Kodak, and Pentax designs. Haven't switched over a Gradal Top yet..but really haven't had an opportunity to. I just wished it came in trivex... Photo Trivex would be the best!!! Same for the Piccolo...

I would put their competitor with the regular Physio. It isn't a customized free form with back surface designs like the Autograph, but does use the digital molding for better accuracy in designs and flatter base curves for better cosmetics.

    Give it a try!

Thanks for the info. Do you need any additional measurements with this freeform? Or is it just the usual PD and seg?

Since it isn't a customized free form, the usual measurements is all you need.

    Last I heard, Creation was a semi-finished lens, not a free-form lens...

I am sorry I didn't clarify my statements earlier. As was mentioned in a previous thread about this lens..

It is similar to the regular physio. It takes advantage of digitally created molds (freeform according to Essilor and Shamir) to offer a broader range of base curves, each of a slightly different design for rx range/add, in a flatter lens.

I actually believe I did clarify that it wasn't a "true free form" or customizable lens in my initial response.

Keep in mind that all progressive lens molds are made using "free-form" manufacturing techniques. Some generate ceramic formers using free-form generators and then "slump" glass molds over them, and some cut glass molds directly using free-form generators (Zeiss, Essilor, Shamir, etc.). But these aren't free-form lenses, and certainly won't provide the benefits of a customized free-form lens. Consequently, I think using the term "free-form" in the context of semi-finished lenses is needlessly confusing.

Cassandra, I should add that your clarification was indeed a very useful one.

Can we say the material of free-form lens is blanks?
