    Poly/High Index Transitions

    Jim,

A number of our patients wear high index materials and transitions are popular with those patients who get sport goggles. Is Transitions working on getting poly and high index Transitions as dark as their NG line? Is it even possible to get other indices that dark?

    Hi Jo,
Yes we are. Transitions development constantly works at improvement for the next upgrade for all lens materials.

    Poly vs High Index Transitions

    Hi Jim,

Does Poly Transitions darker and fade back faster than 1.5 or 1.67 Trans VI?

    Thanks.

This original post is 30 months old...a generation behind todays Transitions lens

    Hi Samuel,
With the launch of Transitions VI in Jan 2008, all core product in...1.50, Trivex, poly, 1.6 and 1.67 have the same performance speed on activation and fade and darkening.

Mid Index was not upgraded because it was upgraded several years ago to where the darkening is comparable to Next Generation at high temps and fade back and indoor clarity is very good. The lens manufacturers that offer mid index Transitions chose not to upgrade and to focus on new materials like Trivex, 1.6 or 1.67.

The segmented Trivex (FT28 and Trifocals) were launched a year before Transitions VI. This product is faster than Next Generation, darker than Transitions V, but not quite the equivilent as Transitions VI, a hybrid product that is doing very well for Younger Optics and Xcel Optical.

Samuel, we have an office in Singapore. Please contact them at 61.8.8329.0500, they can help you on what products are available in your area

    I hope this helps you.
