Thumbs down Help with Nikon FS-2 Slitlamp and digital camera?

    Hi Folks,

The OD I work for uses a Nikon FS-2 Slit Lamp in one of his exam rooms, and it came with a Nikon FM2 35mm camera to take photos.
He is interested in changing this out and using a Nikon Digital Camera in it's place. Have any of you had experience getting this setup to work?

I know the the Nikon DSLR cameras are supposed to use the same lens mount.

I have been looking at the D50, but being as the old FM2 is completely manual, I don't know if the D50 or similar be able to setup the proper settings for exposure, focus, etc. and work properly.

Any ideas would be greatly appreciated.

    Thanks & God Bless.

    Nikon FS2 digital conversion

    Hi
I have the same model lamp and did find a article on the conversion via Canon Rebel. It required an adaptor to make the conversion and they stated that the rebel would fire without a lens in place. I,m not sure if Nikon was even in the digital SLR game at the time . If you have any info on a Nikon fix please let me know. I did purchase a consumer grade adapter and found it did not lock in place completely as the pin is not positioned properly.
    How have you made out?

any of the nikon dSLRs with manual mode should work fine. The mount is exactly the same as their 35mm cameras, which is what the fs2 was made for.

The trick is getting the lighting correct.

I use a nikon D40, but the D50 or others should work okay too. D200 or D80 with 3 or 10 pin remote control ability would allow you to hook the slr up to the joystick button.
