Varilux Comfort has a shorter corridor length than Hoya GP Wide, which means that it may provide less intermediate utility in some situations, depending on the location of the intermediate viewing task. For instance, she may enjoy more utility for "nearer" mid-range tasks, like working on a laptop computer, but less utility for "farther" mid-range tasks. That said, Comfort will definitely provide much better reading utility because of this shorter corridor -- especially in smaller frames.

Also, +3.00 is a rather high Add power. As the Add power increases, the distortion in the lens also increases. If your patient has had an increase in Add power since wearing her Hoya lenses, this will account for some of the effect. In any event, the "curve" sensation she is experiencing should probably go way after wearing the new lenses for a short period of time. And, of course, this all assumes that the lenses were fitted and fabricated correctly and that the refraction is optimal. You may also try reducing the vertex distance and increasing the pantoscopic of the lenses if at all possible.

Pete, our resident Essilor guy, may have some additional suggestions.
