Unscrew the tip off of a soldering iron and attach an alligator clip. I recommend the electrostatic wrist straps that you would get for a computer, if you take the alligator clip from it and slide it onto the tip from a soldering iron it works great. The foot pedal part I scanvanged from an old portable sewing machine (parents were both tailors) attached a plug on one end and a socket on the other so you directly control the power going to the soldering iron. Voila works like a charm.
