    Fitting Cross

What is the fitting cross on a PAL?

It does not contain the distance Rx but it is the point where the px looks through. So whats the optical principle behind it?

    Cheers friends.

If for nothing else the fitting cross is great for troobleshooting. It also makes it easy to block the lens with the proper pupillary distance and seg height, when edging. Not sure about any optical principle though.
