Markings on the surface of Varilux Panamic

Can anyone decode the markings I have on my Varilux Panamic lenses? They are on the lower right and left sides of the lense and can be read from the front of the lense. The outer mid entry is O the lower entry is 20. The inner mid entry is O and the lower is <o>, with the O having something in side. I'm curious to know the meaning of these and would like to validate these are Panamic lenses.

    Thanks,

These markings are what we use to identify the type of lens. They are also used as reference points to find out the power of the lens (in conjunction with a template).

Most people never notice these and they will be of little to no consequence to you. However, were they not there it would be really tough to identify lens types. I don't have my identifier with me but I'm sure someone who uses Varilux lenses more that I can confirm the brand of lens.

It sounds like you do have Varilux lenses. The o in the < > should be an "e" turned slightly counter-clockwise. The e is for Essilor, Varilux's parent company.

Also the O and 20 that you are noticing is the fitting guideline on that side but the 20 means that the lens has a +2.00 ADD power (your reading rx)
