Hello all,
If you are taking the upcoming ABO or State Board written exam and are looking for a great study guide, the TOPS series by Michael Disanto is considered by many to be the the godfather of all reviews.
We are proud to announce that thanks to a special arrangement with Mr. Disanto, we have posted the entire TOPS review exclusively online at http://www.quantumoptical.com/coursesreview.asp in the form of a web-based course. The entire 8 hour review (Four - 2 Hr modules) is available for only $119.00. You can read the material at your own pace, from the comfort of your home or office.
It is complete with slides, text and examples, and a 25 question multiple choice online exam at the end of each module, which is automatically graded as soon as you click submit. This way, you can gauge your understanding and compentency levels immediately. If you fail a review test, you can go back and take it again until you pass, or move on to the next level. The only part of the course that needs to be completed in one viewing is the actual test. You can read the slides a few at a time over the span of hours or days if you wish.
The topic areas covered include:
Level 1
Metric conversion; basic light theory; properties of a prism; lenses as a combination of prisms; properties of spectacle lenses.
Level 2
Spectacle lens styles, materilas and designs; spectacle lens selection and recommendations; anatomy of the eye and the eye as an optical system.
Level 3
Spectacle lens power; calculating power in all meridians; prismatic effect; horizontal prism; vertical prism and imbalance; ANSI and other professional regulations / standards.
Level 4
Lens mechanics; index of refraction; thickness calculations; frame (box) measurements, minimum blank size, pupillary distance and seg / progressive heights; frame materials; vertex distance; lens aberrations; miscellaneous.
Please note, the review modules do not carry any CE credit. If you are looking for ABO/NCLE and State Board Approved CE credits, we have dozens online to choose from, which can be accessed from the site as well.
We are obvioulsy excited about this new addition to our site, and welcome you to visit for more details. If you have any questions regarding the ABO review, please contact me directly. If you are a member of a society or organiziation and would like to link to or incorporate this into your training programs, I'll be happy to assist.
And, for those of you taking the exam, I wish you the best of luck!
