One of my customers asked me to get her a price on a PAL ID. Is that the light full of dots that they hold the lens over to see the changes in prescription?
Anyone have one they want to sell. Can you recommend a source for a new one.
Thanks, Joel

I think your customer was referring to the PAL identifier published by OLA. You should have her contact her lab and they should be able to get one for her. They used to sell for about 15 bucks. In answer to your question, it is a compilation of the schematics showing each manufacturer's trade mark etched into each PAL.Very helpful when trying to match a lens.
Hope this helps. hj

I appreciate the help and passed on the information to my customer.

Actual Essilor has a "PAL ID" that is offered to their accounts through them directly or through your Essilor Edge points and many other ways. A PAL ID is the unit that has a magnifier lens and then a green light background to help you find the progressive lens etchings. Below is a picture of one. I know other companies make them as well but we have gotten them through our Essilor rep before. Hope this helps.

Culland,
My dad used to say..."Count the day lost when you can't learn something new".....smart man, my dad. Thanks for the illumination and the photo.
Crystaloptical,
I think Culland has more of what your customer was looking for.

Question? Why would a customer ask for a "PAL ID"? Did someone offer her one brand and gave her another? Just tinkering why would an optician sell this product to the public.
I think Joels customers are Eyecare professionals.Originally Posted by opticalab
