    Lense question?

Hello, I had a quick question for you OptiBoarders. If you die a lense red, put an AR coating on both sides and then a silver mirror on the inside of the lenses, would it create a mirror on the outside of the lenses?
I've seen this done many times and for some reason I have a feeling this is how some specific lenses I've been after were created.

Here is a link to both sides of the lenses I mean.

It was a prop for a movie

I have responed many times to your question about a lens used as a movie prop. Making a lens that works is not as easy as painting a lens the right color.

You can actually specialize in Thin Film as a profession, earn a PHD and you can then possibly understand what all of us that have responded have been trying to tell you.

I even told you what it would cost to start test of various thin film designs to accomplish what you are looking for.

Think about the facts of the cost of time. Who is going to know the results until they have invested in your desired project. You can not get a conclusion for everything for free over the internet. The equipment to apply the mirrors you want someone to develop costs more than $500,000 and I doubt anyone is going to give you free use of a machine like this that can actually produce revenue when not trying to help you.

    Good Luck!

    hmmm

I don't quite know what you guys mean, there isn't any film involved in this project, just two AR coatings and one silver mirror coating on the inside of a red base lense.

Perhaps this is where they got the movie idea:

Please understand we can not help you

I think Cyclopsred is just an individual who wants a pair of sunglass lenses to look like he saw in a movie. I have tried to explain that thin film is the technology used to develop anti reflective coatings.

Cycolpsred, please seach the internet under thin film processing to learn more about this. I don't think anyone hear can make what you want for free.
