What can I do to get it right in one try, glasses?

I am a very nearsided person and was searching the lense tilt formula and found this forum. It seems it takes 3 pairs of glasses to get it right when I see the doctor.

Ive seen quite a few doctors in VA, at MCV and it never fails. First pair is broken/cracked at grinding stage and remade before I ever see them. Second pair is slightly off, too weak or too strong, something about cylinders and prisms, last pair is just right, for a while.

This time the distance ones are too strong. I see fine with them angled forward and resting on my nose. I was going to reverse engineer the formula to show the eye doc I know little to nothing about prescriptions, but thought I would ask you guys to eliminate that all together for future reference. The "reading" glasses are worthless. The distance ones work well for both, at least my limited experience with them

Anyway, what can I do on my end to get this done once and correct? This time around I found no lab in VA other than the one at a local community college to fill it. Who knew -9s are hard to fill? Where do I go for the next size up?

    The prescription is
    spherical cylinder axis
    od -14.25
    os -9.50 -978 165
    and
    spherical cylinder axis
    od -16.25
    os -11.50 -975 165

THanks for what info you guys can offer. I worry about getting beyond the use of glasses or not being able to find a lab to grind them.

Minus 9's aren't that hard to fill. You wear a lot more then a -9.00.

Can the doctor do an over refraction over the new glasses and adjust the prescription from there?

Good luck, I am not surprised that it takes a couple of times to get them made.

Get Jacqui to make them. . .

Sometimes it takes somebody who was doing this before the advent of computers and have made lens grinding an art. Of course if the Rx is off then you're SOL.

    Jeff,

You should ask your questions of your ECP. Also, I remind you of the OB posting guidelines:

Consumers are allowed to post on the Board, as long as the posts concern general eyecare related topics. However please be aware that any questions that involve diagnosing specific eyecare and eyewear problems are not appropriate for an online discussion forum. These kinds of questions should be discussed with a qualified eyecare professional who has examined you and is familiar with your situation. Posts asking for diagnostic help will be closed or removed.
