Women account for the fastest growing segment of the optical profession. In response to attendees’ request, International Vision Expo is introducing a FREE symposium, “Women Ask for Directions—Opportunities for Career Growth” at this year’s event.
The seminar is being held Saturday, April 1, 2006 from 9:45 am to 11:45 am (course #3219). The course will be held in Room 19 of the Jacob Javits Convention Center.
Designed specifically for female eyecare professionals at all stages of their career, you will assess your current career status and create a road map for a successful journey in planning and managing your career. Led by optical industry expert and career coach, Sandy Likes, attendees will participate in a personalized career assessment exercise and receive pertinent information to advance their career. In addition, VCA will present data from a recent census survey to give participants a clear idea of where they stand compared to their peers and male counterparts in terms of salary, motivation, opportunities and challenges.
A representative from US Government’s Small Business Administration Women’s Business Center (WBC) Program will also be on-hand. The Women’s Business Centers represent a national network of more than 100 educational resource centers designed to assist women start and grow businesses. WBCs operate with the mission to level the playing field for female entrepreneurs who face unique obstacles in the world of business.
