    Question Contact lens material question

Does anyone have access to a copy of Tyler's Quarterly? I'm having trouble figuring out the material and water content of SofLens Multifocal.

According to the 2005 Contact Lens Journal from the University of Waterloo, it's Polymacon B with a 38.6% water content. But apparently that's not the case with Tyler's Quarterly. Can anyone help me out?

    Thanks!

That's part of the problem. I called B&L customer service in Canada and they confirmed what I've got. But apparently those aren't the same values in Tyler's, and that's what I'm supposed to go by.

(In case people are wondering, it's for a clinical study we're participating in. The sponsor insists I wrote in the wrong values.)

Process for cleaning and disinfecting contact lenses

    Document:United States Patent 5370744

Abstract:An improved process for cleaning and disinfecting contact lenses with a single solution is described. The process utilizes the cleaning effect of a cleaning agent in combination with the solvent action of water and physical agitation of the lens (i.e., by means of rubbing) to achieve a degree of cleaning which is comparable to or better than prior processes which utilize surfactant-cleaners. The cleaning agent is selected from polycarboxylates, polysulfonates and polyphosphates. The preferred cleaning agent is citrate. The process also offers greater convenience, relative to many prior systems for cleaning and disinfecting contact lenses, since the need to utilize additional products to clean the lenses is eliminated.

Chris - I am confused by your post.

Tyler's does say Polymacon 38%. 38% meaning water content of course.
