How to invert a surgical microscope image

    Dear:
I am an ophthalmologist and i want to use my contact wide field lens in doing vitrectomies. i am sure that you can help me by deciding a certain group of lenses to put infront of my microscope to invert the image i get (which is already inverted) instead of the very expensive systems that are already there.
    Any ideas.
    thanks

This is a discussion off the top of my poor head. I'm no optical engineer.

I know that Keplerian telescopes invert images (like a binocular indirect ophthalmoscope), but you'd have the magnification effect, which would be undesireable.

I remember something called "porro prisms" from school that invert an image. Theoretically, you could wear that in a head-mounted appliance, not unlike a surgical loupe.

You may have to take it from here.

What about the inverters used for astronomical telescopes? They can be fairly inexpensive.(I think)

    Dear Dr. Micro:

As long as you are in Germany why no ask Carl Ziess & Co. or Leica? I'm sure they can fix the problem and have many times in the past.

In the U.S. I am sure the people at Edmund Scientific have a dozen lens kits for same. The have something for everything optical in 3 sizes.
