Hi,
I am new to the forum, so I hope my question is valid. I am not a professional, but I have a sticky problem that I need some help with.
I am trying to get suitable Rx sport glasses for playing squash doubles. I need a large frame because I am "cranially endowed."
I get different stories from different opticians about what base curve I will need. Rec Specs makes a frame called Biker that looks suitable because it is large (A=61, B=53, ED=66), but the base curve is 8. My prescription is as follows:
Sphere Cylinder Axis
O.D. -1.75 -1.50 095
O.S. -3.50 -1.50 092
I will need polycarbonate or some other impact-resistant lenses.
Question: Can I put this Rx into an 8 base curve lens successfully?
Is the downside of this solution poor fit in the frame or too much distortion?
Maybe I should continue searching for a 6 base frame. One solution I am considering is to get a pair of nylon frame sunglasses and substitute the lenses with my own clear Rx lenses, but it seems a bit of waste to throw the sunglass lenses away.
I've also considered the Hilco Sniper or Zoom frames, but my optician tells me, from looking at the catalogue, that they would probably not be a very good fit.
Any ideas? Thanks.
