    Super Hydrophobic problems ?

    Hello Optiboarders,
I'm searching information concerning the presence of 'Perfluoro octanoic acid' (substance under study from the EPA U.S.A.) on super hydrophobic coatings ,normally used on new generation AR coatings.
Normally this substance is used for the production of Fluoro-polymers and Fluoro Telomers.

    Bye

    Thank you AWtech!

Your link was very useful, even if , i have no understand well which grade of safety has, our super hydrophobic product(for my AR coating operators , and for the final user).
To be sure , i 'll ask to my supplier a special declaration concerning the absence of PFOA .

    thank you again

    Mauro

PFOA and Risk -- I doubt there is a risk

PFOA as I understand is being looked at due to contact with food which is then consumed. With super hydrophobic coatings this limited amount of PFOA if present is not in contact with mouth or any food substance, so I htink the risk form exposure is not a problem for this use. Teflon is know for its slick cooking surface.
