    KB Co. Polarized Lens

Does anyone has experiences or comments about KB Co. Polarized lenses? I am looking into getting one pair of prescription sunglasses (not transitions). I heard that this company is the only one that come out with polarized hi-index 1.67. Is there any other company making polarized hi-index 1.67 or higher (even better)?

My Rx is -10.25/-1.75/165 degree and -10.25/-2.00/180 degree -- So I need the thinnest it could be. Does anyone know the comparison (in term of thickness) between polarized vs. clear lenses?

    Thank you
    Jack

Wink We have alot of experience with them.

They moved down out of the mountains and are now based in Centennial. Great people to work with and good product as well. 1.67 is as thin as you're going to find. Due to polariods being a lamenated lens its always going to be a little thicker than clear lenses in a comparable index of refraction.

Your Optician should be able to show you some zyl styles that should hide some of the thickness. Check with them for your best options.

    Good luck to you!

Sorry to butt in, but polarized lenses are almost never laminated anymore.

ICE-TECH offers a slightly different approach

My Rx is -10.25/-1.75/165 degree and -10.25/-2.00/180 degree -- So I need the thinnest it could be. Does anyone know the comparison (in term of thickness) between polarized vs. clear lenses?
The way we process a lens we can currently only offer poly however the thickness of poly with polarized and without is between 1.0mm for clear poly and up to 1.2mm.

As CEO stated today the polarized film is very close to the outer surface of the lens.

We offer our Thin-ICE Technology see this link http://www.ice-tech.com/ice-techrx.asp

Your lens in our poly would be thinner than the 1.67 however the optical area would be limited to between 40 to 50mm dia.

What are the dimensions of your frame and I will work up a calculation of the difference.

We have even made a 35mm dia wrap frame with an 8 base front curve and a -10.00 sph. (not recommended for all situations)

If you could wait a few weeks, (two to three) we will have new technology installed that will allow even thinner lens designs by using non-spherical backsurfaces optimized for optical vision and the thinnest possible.

The vast majority of 'special' colors are laminated.
