    compression mount rimless

We heard there is a patent on compression mount of Silhouette Minimal Art, i.e. the lens fixing system. We all know a lot of smaller manufacturers and traders have been selling copies for a long time. However, I don't understand why bigger brands like Zeiss, Nikon, Longines, Zyloware Invincilites, Mount Eyewear, Jonnathan Cate, etc.....are all using the same feature, without the fear of litigation. What's going on here? Has the patent already expired?

Obviously there are no patents on this process und you assumption might be based on hearsay from sales rep.........who are pretty good at spreading rumors. Why dont you contact Silhoutte directly and ask them?

The patent that you're talkink about is not with the system itself, rather with the material used to make the inserts. They are made out of a material called SPX. No other manufacturer can use this material. And in this case the proof is in the bushings! No other bushing works as well as Silhouette's.
