no there are some soft designed short corridor progressive lenses. Essilors Ovation, and Shamir Picilo springs to mind.

Nowadays the terms hard and soft are a little confusing, as lens designers can vary the hardness of the blending - in different bits of the lens - hence the new term multi design springing up now and then

Short corridor PALs is not real soft

    Hi Cnet Baby ,

Not have any short corridor is real soft design.
Some short corridor PALs is hard design or semi-hard design or semi-soft design.

The new generation of PALs for today not have any real soft design or read hard design anymore.

All of them are Advance Multi-design / Advance soft design or many difference name , but they are the same that , they are mix about soft and hard.

    To understand very easy , please follow this step ;
    1. Longer corridor = more soft
    2. Shorter corridor = more hard
    3. Wider Near Zone = more hard
    4. Wider Intermediate Zone = more soft
    5. Wider Distance Zone = more hard
    6. More hard = more distorsion
    7. Varilux Comfort and Varilux Panamic are share distorsion around all zone of lenses and distance zone is soft , intermediate is semi-soft and reading zone is semi-hard.
Essilor call this design that , Advance Soft Design in Varilux Comfort and call Advance Multi Design in Varilux Panamic.
7.1 The strong point of Varilux Comfort and Varilux Panamic are in SPH.+
7.2 The weak point of Varilux Comfort and Varilux Panamic are in SPH - , and it will be much more effect when the wearer have to drive a car at night
7.3 The quality of vision is the weak point of Varilux Comfort and Varilux Panamic
7.4 Varilux Comfort and Varilux Panamic will have much more effect from ABBE more than any PALs.

    8. Individual Free Form PALs is much more better technology than Semi-finished Progressive Front Surface like Varilux Panamic. ( I have been fit Varilux Panamic more than 1000 pairs )

    9. I dare to say that , Rodenstock Impression ILT XS is one of the world best PALs if you compare about performance per US$. The price of ILT XS is only 34% of Varilux Ipseo. But the performance at far of ILT XS is much better than Varilux Ipseo about 50%. The intermediate vision and near vision of Varilux Ipseo better than ILT XS about 40% , but the price difference nearly 3 time.
