Maybe this is a really stupid question, but how exactly do you compare progressives? I hear so many opticians saying so many variations on "this progressive is wider/shorter/better/whatever than that progressive" but where does that information come from? I've recently begun wearing progressives and only have personal experience wearing the Varilux Panamic. I often recommend it to my patients, because I've used it myself and know what my own experience was. I guess my question is, how do you really know how a lens like the Panamic compares with other progressives like the Comfort or the Genesis or the Hoya Wide any other brand, without actually wearing it yourself? Do I just believe what the manufacturers tell me? Do I keep on repeating what I hear other opticians saying? I don't really want to do that. Are there charts or graphs that can give you a representation of the lens on paper? Any info or suggestions are appreciated. :bbg:
