    Need help finding cancer info

Hi folks. I know we are in optics but I was wondering if any of you had links or resources about cancer, Colorectal cancer in particular, and the elderly?

My mother has just been diagnosed with Stage III colon cancer at age 74; mom, my brother, my sister and I have some important decisions coming up. I would rather find a bit of information on Quality of Life and the effects of radiation and chemotherapy before making any kind of major decision.

Right off the top of my head, I would say to start with the American Cancer Society and Cancer Centers of America, I've had several patients that have had colorectal cancer and it is hard.

Let me do some digging tomorrow and see if I can find more details for you.

    Jo,

Please go to www.cancer.org, which is the website for the American Cancer Society. My mother had been diagnosed with non-hodgkins lymphoma back in February. They were able to give me tons of resources including everything about her particuliar type of cancer, treatment options, financial resources, support group information, caregiver information, etc. Thank GOD, my mother, after going through 6 months of chemo, of course losing all of her hair, etc, is now in remission and right now, is not going through any treatment. All she wants for Christmas is her hair!

Sorry to hear about your mother as this will be a long road, please use all of the support you can get. You and your family are in my thoughts.

Jo, don't have any info but I will be thinking of you and your family. Both my parents have been diagnosed with different froms of cancer in the past 5 years and my moms diagnosis just got kicked up a notch.
