    Free-form lenses above -10.00

I have a client who is roughly -15.00 -1.25 x 050 +2.25 add ou. I thought Rodenstock offered their 1.8 glass in the Impression ILT or Multigressiv ILT, but it looks like it only comes in 1.8 in the Multigressiv2. The new Nikon W 1.74 is only available up to a -10.00 (which is crazy since the material is virtually useless under -10.00), any suggestions for a free-form lens that goes beyond -10.

Hi Jedi. Pardon me for hacking around on the Web (again) and impersonating an optician, but here are my findings. I'm sure the "pros" will check up on this, to make sure that I don't lead you astray. "I needed to know for my own personal vision requirements ..."

It looks like any of the following free-form PALs can go out to -10.0 sphere power:
    Varilux Ipseo 1.67
    Zeiss Gradal Individual 1.6, 1.67
    Shamir Autograph 1.6
    Definity 1.6
    SOLAOne 1.67
    Seiko Super Proceed 1.67

However, the data that is visible to me on the Web shows that Definity 1.6 and SOLAOne 1.67 can go out further, to -12.0 sphere power.

Thanks for the research Rinselberg. Your not a real optician, but you play one on T.V. :D. Since posting I have found the Zeiss Individual will go up to a -17.00. I might be crazy but I had thought Rodenstock had initially made the ILT lenses in 1.8 glass up to a -20.00. (The reason I remember this is the client I am dealing was initially going to go that route 2 years ago, I assisted her at a differnet office.)

It would idealfor the individual designed lenses or the freeform lenses to be predominantly available in the higher/more tricky prescriptions, because qualitivley, thats where their best potential to increase vision quality is. The reality is that manufacturers have to re-coup thier costs, so generally, they are not as widly available across the power ranges as one would want, mainly avilable under a 4 cyl with a tight prism spec too

This is also true of some thinner designs... Just when you want a high index aspheric for a +7.00 +2.50 you find the range stoped at 4/2, but basic materials are ironically available at almost any power. Such is life

    Varilux Panamic Mineral 1.8

    Varilux panamic Mineral 1.8
Yes , this is not free form PALs ,
But , the performance of Varilux Panamic better than Rodenstock Multi-Gressiv Mineral 1.8.

I am working in Thailand and we have to order Varilux Panamic Mineral 1.8 from Essilor Singapore.
But , deliver time is only 1 week.
