Are there any BROWN transitions available for high-index (1.67 or so) premium-brand progressives (in canada)?
If so, does that depend on the vendor and/or lab?
Thanks!

seiko genious wing is available in 1.67, transitions, not sure about canada
Yes, pretty much all high index transitions have it now. With Transitions NG it was mostly grey, but now that Transitions V is out it is available in both colours. Here are a few off the top of my head:Originally Posted by SkiBunny

So not the german-based companies, like zeiss or rodenstock??
I think Zeiss has it with either their brevity and/or gradal top. I did not name them, because I did not know.Originally Posted by SkiBunny
Either way there is a lot of selection.
Oh ya, I also think is it available in Sola One. The first ones I named I knew forsure
Anyone know if Zeiss Gradal Tops are indeed available in Brown Transitions???
When i ordered, they said yes brown, but i actually received gray.
Now the shop says grey is better and they dont come in brown anyway so cannot redo in brown.
Not impressed.

YES zeiss progressives ARE indeed available in brown transitions.
My optician is wrong and/or lying.
If i was as poor at my job as my optician, she'd have holes in her head from my haphazard dental work. Nuff said. Grrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrr.
The progressives are. But is it available in 1.67?Originally Posted by SkiBunny

I dunno and my optician sure as heck dunno.
Guess i'll phone zeiss again. Hehe.
According to their website and the rep who was at my office yesterday, 1.67 currently only is avaiable in grey. 1.5 plastic is what comes in brown.
Life RX at least here in the US is only available in grey as well

In the U.S., the only 1.67 Trans Brown PAL is the Seiko Proceed II. I've attached the page from the Transitions brochure, in case you're really curious. I'd link to the PDF on Transitions' site like Jedi did, but I couldn't find the most recent U.S. chart. My copy here is from around April, I think.Originally Posted by Jubilee
Sorry for the small size, the original is about four times as big.
I am wondering if this is for Canada and UK then.. Cause no one from the rep, to their certified lab, to their website, and transitions website lists a brown.

That's definitely the U.S. availability--I'm expecting one to be in my hands tomorrow, or I'm going to have a grumpy patient. What I found interesting was the difference in U.S. and Canadian markets--they have way more than we do in brown!
And as King said in the second post:
Probably the same lens--I'm guessing the "Genius Wing" is what we call the "Proceed II Short" over here.seiko genious wing is available in 1.67, transitions, not sure about canada
Our Canadian team is updating their dispensing guide.

I believe some of the confusion with Carl Zeiss is they offer 1.67 brown in Europe. Sometimes products offered in Europe but not North America find a way into Canada.

Indeed these are in canada. Hehe, usually i have to go shop to the US in Buffalo to get better product selection than in canada! For once, we have a product available in canada not sold in the US (besides legal pot, hehe!)Originally Posted by Jim Schafer
Folks, I am wearing a new pair of Brown Transitions in a Zeiss Gradal Top 1.67 progressive lense.
I purchased these 3 weeks ago in Toronto (btw gray sucks).
They are fabulous - both the transitions and the lens.
My adapt time was virtually zero... so easy that when i first put them on, I said to the optician, "oh-oh they're just single vision". hehe. True story. I guess i was expecting distortion or dizziness or something, but i had none of that. Of course being a +1 Add they're quite mild.
They do make a difference for reading. The reading area is adequate but not very large (B-height is 30mm, fitting=19mm ... we subtracted 1 mm while fitting like many here advise and I'm glad i did so)
Glad i went for a premium lens... My friend got silhouette frames with a seiko lens in +1 Add and hers suck... but it might be fitting, she thinks her fitting is too high... again i'm glad i got some advice on this board with which to work with my optician.
A very satisfying purchase for me. Thanks to all!
Skibunny you would be surprised at the amount of optical products that hit Canada before the US.
Actually, if companies were smart they would use Canada as a test market over the US, because it is less riskier due to size.
We have Advance Progressive Addition Lenses Club (APC) in Thailand for hard test of premium PALs in Thailand.
Last month we test Hoyalux iD 1.6 vs Rodenstock Impression ILT 1.6 vs Rodenstock Impression ILT 1.6 vs Tokai BS 13 vs Varilux Ipseo ( All of them are progressive back surface ).
