Thanksgiving day turkey with stuffing (the dry fluffy kind, not the wet goo Southerners refer to as "filling")... followed up by Middleswarth BBQ potato chips and grapenut ice cream (its a Central PA thing).

Also, there's a dessert wine called something like "Spate Lasen" (that's what it sounds like anyway). Incredibly sweet... Either that, or any ice wine.

It is by universal misunderstanding that all agree. For if, by ill luck, people understood each other, they would never agree.

I am a label reader..It really does my head in...
Can you imagine if they listed what antibiotics & hormones where given to that animal as well.

I love the fact that they do not list that they add food colouring to beef to make it that nice bright red colour.

Jeez- sorry off topic I shall not continue...

Thanksgiving Dinner is still the best. When I moved to Maryland, I was introduced to Maryland Stuffed Ham ( stuffing's major ingredient was Cheaspeake Bay Oysters).

On my side of the state it was swet potato ans shoo fly pie!

I think it's Spatlese--refers to German wines that are intensely flavored. The term means last or late harvest if memory serves.

I am wild for Thanksgiving dinner, and the dressing made with just stale bread, celery, onions, heaps of butter, some chicken broth, pepper, celery salt and sage. Hmmmmmmmm..

    My favorites (quite pedestrian)

1.) My special "italian spring pasta salad"
2.) My cilantro-heavy salsa with blue corn chips
    3.) Iced tea, mildly sweetened

    For wine.....

If you can find a bottle of Lafite Rothschild in a vintage year......'59 was a favorite of mine, it will make whatever red meat you accompany it with, the best meal you ever had. Unfortunately its very rare now, and when you can find it you probably could finance a small country with what it would cost. Haut Brion '64 is another notable bordeaux only slightly less expensive.

I no longer drink spirits, but if I ever decided to start again, that's where I would begin.

As far as Wine goes, the best wine I've ever found is 'Hardys Crest - Cabernet Sauvignon' I can drink it like it's water.

    Crawdads

    Chairtime:

For many years we used crawfish for trotline bait. Then the first time I had crawfish etuffe, my reaction was: "My God, I've been wasting these for bait?"

If you ain't been there you can't know what it's like.

Fried Turkey! I'm from Louisiana, and Cajun Fried Turkey is the BEST! I can't wait to put my turkey frier to use next week! (Did you ever see that Allstate commercial? I swear I never burned my house down! I swear it!)

Food: Fried turkey (of course), crab legs
Wine: White Muscadine (good ol' 'possum grapes')

I love crawfish, thought it took a while to get into that head sucking thing. Crawfish etoiffe (I think that's right, at least I try Chip, you clearly could care;) ) is divine, the only problem is it's a major pain to make and not many restaurants up here in the benighted north can do it justice.

We went out the other evening and tried a new place--one of those byob little places. It was delightful, especially a three mushroom soup--so often mushroom soup is muddy or bland, this was perfect. A long way round to say my favorite foods are winter foods: stews, soups, chilis, pot roast...yumms!
