Sorry, I'm just being lazy here, but darn if that "Stacey's Mom" song isn't catchy. The sound is vintage 80's (aka "bubblegum") music- but something tells me it must be more recent. Anyone know the provenance?

I had not heard the song, but found it here and listened to it. It reminds me of an 80's song, too.

The video is pretty funny too.......
I believe the song you are referring to is Stacy's Mom by Fountains of Wayne. It was a top ten song back in the summer of 2003.
Great.. now I have it stuck in my head...
Stacy can't you see, you're not the girl for me.. I know it might be wrong, but I am in love with Stacy's mom.
Thanks!

Rachel Hunter is in the video. Sure hope I look as good as she does when I get to be her age!

Geez, Pete. That's not a good video!
Ok, I only watched it once. Its main riff is from the intro to the CARS's "Just What I Needed", (there is a license plate that says "I love Ric ((Ocasek))" and the majority of the video mimics "Fast Times At Ridgemont High" and most notoriously, the Judge Reinhold/Phoebe Cates/Pool/Bathroom affair (which, BTW, in the original movie was set to the CARS's "Moving In Stereo").

Didn't Dr. Pepper use it in an add I saw, recently?
...Just ask me...
I've never seen the video... The Dr. Pepper commercial was the first time I heard the song (and that's what started me wondering if this was an old 80's song that I had missed, or something new). Then, I started hearing it on one of the local radio stations (which tends to play more 80s music than anything else), and got even more confused.
The "Fountains of Wayne" helped me locate the song on Bearshare (um, you know- for evaluation purposes only... I'll be deleting it after I listen once or twice).
;)
Thanks for the info, for me the best line is:
I could tell by the way she stared- and the way she said, "you missed a spot over there..."

Alright, it has to be said, this is bordering on the creepy. Fess up Pete, did have any especially, uh, close, relationships with your junior high female teachers????? Have you ever graced the cover of National Enquirer????? Or are we talking more of an Eddie Haskell sort of thing: you're looking especially lovely today Mrs Cleaver......Originally Posted by Pete Hanlin

Actually, I can't recall ever having a crush on a teacher (except in Kindergarten, but my feelings toward Ms. Buffington were strictly platonic).
I did catch the video- its hillarious (none of my girlfriends had moms that looked like that though)! Having an 11 year old in the house (who has already passed through a Brittany Spears and Teri Hatcher phase), its just a bit humorous to watch and realize just how pathetic we males are...

Yes, Pete, but can he recognize Jane Seymour and not mistake her for the Coca-Cola lady? ;)

The kid needs to ask himself why anyone would leave Stacey's mom.....
If it was for an upgrade, well it would be really something to top Rachel Hunter!

I have to admit, that did seem like the most confusing thing about the video! The only way the world makes sense is if "left" was some civil way of saying dad had an awful incident involving and airplane (or some other form of mass transit). You know, left as in the way Patrick Swayze left Demi Moore in "Ghost."
PS- Rachel drives a pretty nice Benz in the video as well...
