    contact lens fall out

    hi people,
i was just wondering what i should do in the event that the contact lens falls out and i have no access to lens solution nor the case to put the lens into. What do you think about putting it in your mouth to keep it moist. obviously this is not the ideal situation but isnt it better to clean it off well later than to let it dry up??

    thanks

you could always carry a contact lens case, and a small botle of saline / lens soloution. You would of course have to put the lens through the normal cleaning process when you get home.

N.B. what i did not say was carry a old case round with old soloution in it

Oooooo....gross. As the the other posters stated, carry your case with solution in it at all times. You should also carry your glasses. You never know when you'll need one of them.

Ps. Think about what you put in your mouth and then think about sticking what's in your mouth into your eye. I think you'll think twice then.

Most disposable lenses are worth about $4. It's better to lose the lens.

Instead of carrying a case, I would recommend you get a package of non-preserved artificial tears. Inside are tiny, flat vials that can be carried around easily. It works for lubrication needs, and it could serve to rinse and rub a dirty contact that fell out.

If your contacts keep falling out, you need to consider that your eyes are dry.

I haven't heard this situation in years. Get rid of the lens it is cheaper than your eye.

Your mouth is connected to the other end and shares many times the same nasty bacteria etc,. Urine on the other hand is sterile and has excellent rewetting properties.

You would be smarter to put the lens in your dog's mouth. Studies show that dogs have fewer germs in the mouth than humans do. If no dog is around then I would go with the urination suggestion. If no urine, then I would dunk it in the pickle jar. If no pickle jar, then put in mouth.

lol if a contact falls on something dirty, might as well throw it out. You can replace contacts for mare bucks but an eye infection is costy and sometimes leds to loss of vision. May be wise to carry spare contacts or glasses in case.
