    How did the Sox win the AL when the Cubs have little hope at the NL?

    I'm a die hard Cubs fan, and although I am quite happy about the Sox winning their division I just wonder when the Cubs will win the series. Anyone have any sure fire ways of knowing?

    Someone told me when the first woman is elected president of the USA we will have a big Cubs win at the world series. True?

    I wonder,
    Mary Sue

    With the Red Sox win last year, you have to figure there's hope. Good luck.:cheers:

    The way MLB is set up you will begin to see only four or even less teams be contenders for the next many, many years.

    When one team has a pay role of over $200 million and another with one much closer to $20 million teams do not stand a chance.

    There's a nice compendium of Chicago Cubs lore, starting from the impact of the Great Chicago Fire in 1871 down to the current day at:
    http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Chicago_cubs

    It's a long tale, rich with misfortune, including the Curse of the Billy Goat (1945), the trade that sent future Hall of Famer Lou Brock to the St. Louis Cardinals in exchange for pitcher Ernie Broglio (1964) and last but not least, the Steve Bartman foul ball fiasco of October 14,2003 - a date that will live in (Chicago Cubs) infamy. Cubs fans and others can find hypertext links to all of it from the Wikipedia web page (above);
