Hey do any of you guys have your advanced NCLE certification? If anybody has taken it, please tell us how it was and how difficult it was? How much practical experience in fitting contacts should one have before even attempting to take it?

It's been a while, but it's a worthy test and if you don't fit contact lenses on a regular basis, you may definitely have a challenge in front of you. There is some really good study material from the Contact Lens Society of America that would assist you as well.
If you aren't a member of CLSA, I would encourage you to join, and take advantage of the educational resourses that are available to you from them. This is one organization that is NOT political, and the members rally around new members to help them achieve success in fitting contact lenses. The website is http://www.clsa.info/index.shtml. You may also contact them at clsa@patriot.net. The telephone number is 703-437-5100.
Once you achieve your advanced certification, go on and work on your Fellow Status with CLSA.
Good luck to you.
Diane

I am in agreement with Diane about the materials available from the CLSA. The exam is designed to really make sure you know your stuff. When I took it it was 150 Q's. CLSA is a worth while educational association with an online university.
