    Drill mount material

I only sell drill mounts in a material that has extra impact resistance or tensile strength. I do not give the patient an option.
    ...Just ask me...

95% of the time clients will take my recommendation of Trivex or High Index for drills or grooves, but there is always the one guy that "has never had a problem before" and wants cr-39. 3 months later he tries to raise hell when his lenses are chipped. :hammer:

Jedi, I grew up during the glass century..............we loved to sell rimless glasses in mineral glass. Customers would have the occasional breakage and had to pay for a new lens or two.

It used to be additional income. When you sell a lens today.....do you want it to last so the customer can wear them for his burial?

Repair jobs and lens and frame replacements have always been a standard side income for opticians.

I won't even do rimless grooves in CR39 if I can help it. I hate it when they chip.

I know where your coming from Chris, we are probably one of the few offices in the area that resinks hinges, polishes acetate frames, solders frames, etc. We are also quite fortunate to have a very loyal client base that either purcahses multiple pairs at a time or replaces them in a timely manner (1-2 years). Unfortunately, we are now in an era of "customer satisfaction" A.K.A. the squeky wheel gets the grease. Screws loosening, lenses scratching, finishes wearing off, and lenses chipping are, according to many clients, manufacturer defects. Never mind the fact they are worn everyday in every situation. By avoiding (not eliminating) some of these lens choice in drills and grooves we are avoiding possible conflict with our clients and make our day to day a little less stressful.
