    Thank You and Goodnight!

After some 8 years (on and off) in the ophthalmic biz it appears that I'm finally moving on to a job in another industry.

I've certainly enjoyed the time I've spent in the biz and the people I've known over the years. Good luck to all my former SOLA and Sola Technologies cronies. Thanks to the all the people who have directed contract work to me over the past three or four years, it was greatly appreciated.

Because my new job is both unrelated to ophthalmics and because I expect it to be very challenging and time consuming I probably won't be spending much time here so I simply wanted to take this to say how much I've enjoyed both the technical side and 'entertainment' side of this forum. Thanks to Steve, all the moderators and the various contributors.

    Cheers,
    Matthew Coda

Matt, your contributions here have been very valuable, and it will certainly be a loss to the 'Board not to have you around. I hope you pay us an occasional visit. I also hope that you enjoy the new gig. Please keep us posted. And, from me and the rest of your former SOLA cronies, I hope we see you back in this industry someday!

There are others who've left the industry and still are valuable contributors to our board. When time permits I'm sure you will be one of those too.I wish you well on the new turn your carreer has taken.

Best of luck, Matthew- I've enjoyed many of your posts.

As for leaving, I have to echo Robert. The optical biz always reminds me of the line in "Hotel California."

Darnit Pete! I was gonna use that line.

    Congrats!

Having made the great exodus a few months ago myself, I can assure you that the nightmares do eventually subside. :D

Well, in my case you and Robert certainly have been right. When SOLA's US R&D evaporated I thought I was done. Then came the contract job with SOLA Technologies. Then came a couple of contracts with companies I believe would prefer to remain nameless. Then came a real gig with a company (who also wishes to remain nameless) developing some ophthalmic related technology. Seems no matter how hard I ran I was just running in circles.

It's nice to know that if I do end up back in the glasses biz that there will be no shortage of interesting people to work with.

Thanks for the warm wishes and good luck to all.

Matt, just because you are ttaking a job outside the industry doesn't mean you can't stick around on OptiBoard. As far as I know, the optical industry doesn't have Men in Black that can erase all your previous optical eknowledge and experience. ;)

For that matter I haven't worked in the industry myself since I left Sola.

Good luck on the new job!
