Are you ready for some FOOTBALL!!!???!!!

Finally, FINALLY- the season is upon us. The first week of NCAA produced some wonderful games (although Miami got ripped- if that wasn't a "taking off the helmet" violation at the end of the FSU game, I don't know what qualifies).

Also, it gives me great pleasure to bench Tom Brady (who I managed to end up with on my fantasy team) in favor of Delhomme (we'll see if this was a wise move).

One thing is sure at this point, the Rolling Stones need to go back to the retirement home- they're showing their age!

PS- GO RAIDERS!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! (That's for you, Harry... ;) )

    Yessssssss!

I can't believe the waiting is over. Seven months is a long time. I can't believe I saw this before mikey but I think kickoff is in 4 minutes and I can hardly wait for the Raiders to get a lesson in how the game is played. Got to go watch!

Harry you beat me to it!

Can you say 3peat! 4 or of 5!

Patriots played poor last night and still killed the Raiders.

I just wish the first game was against a weaker team like the COLTS!

I was beginning to go through withdrawals. I even watched the game last night, even though neither were teams I would cheer for(I'm a big KC fan)

    Bring it on....

And on the college side Go Mighty Gators:D

As long as the Pats played just like they did last night, I say "bring em on!" With the lack of protection in the second half, I could just see Dwight Freeney ripping into Tom Brady's side!

By the seventh of November the Pats will have a front line you couldn't throw sand through. About as close as the Colts will get to Brady is the TV sets they watch the replays on when they get home.

Yeah!!! Finally something to live for. Good luck to all your respective teams. Even the hideous, puppy torturing, sidewalk-spitting, bad hair Patriots. (Who's a sore loser?????:bbg: Alright, Steeler fans. We have to have something to hold on to....oh the humanity...)

I don't know about D in Colts, but considering their recent additions to the defense I'm actually thinking of playing the Colts defense this week instead of Pittsburgh on my fantasy team (I mean, they're playing the Ravens- this game should end up being 21-10 or something like that).

Tooting your own horn is what this thread is all about! Never fail to do it! As you can see by optowalt's post, its also a good place to lament. Personally, other than the Pats, I got KILLED in the pool. The upsets aren't supposed to happen till week 4 or 5!

Well, as it turns out I would have been better to start Brady this week rather than Delhomme. However, it also so happens that the Colts DEFENSE provided more fantasy points this week than Tom Brady.

Uh-oh... looks like the Colts may have a defense to team up with that offensive aresenal. A four turnover takeaway advantage, one TD scored off an interception, and basically a shutout until 0:13 in the fouth. Yeah, its against the Ravens, but five defensive players didn't even suit up this week! Oh, this just may be the year!

Looks like Brady will have to look out for Freeney AND Triplett (who had two sacks and knocked Boller out of the game). Bring it on!!!

Let's see, there was the Iron Curtain, then there was the Bears of the mid-80s... the Colts defensive unit will have to come up with a nifty moniker- perhaps the Indy Black and BLUE!!!

It's Steel Curtain ya' kid ya'. I liked the look of Big Ben, ok against an imploding Titans team, and how 'bout Willy Parker!! Too soon to tell but I am for now at least a happy camper!!!

OMG, my Steeler fan brother would laugh his butt off if he caught that slip! Would it help to point out that the Steel Curtain (duh, its Pittsburgh- thus the steel) was just a bit before "my time?"

I would guess you would be quite happy with Parker- I enjoyed watching him shred the Titans in all the glory HDTV can provide (thank the good lord for Sunday Ticket- if there is such a thing as too MUCH football at one time...).

Anyway, one week does not a season make, but the Colts are looking fairly solid thus far- now, we just have to beat the Patriots (yes, that's the third year in a row I've had to make that statement).

Heck, even Dallas was entertaining football. Its humorous to see how receivers like McCardell and Keyshawn are performing so well after being cut by that "genius" coach back in Tampa. All in all though, I don't think Bledsoe has it in him anymore. He mailed in about 1 1/2 quarters of work yesterday...

    So was the iron curtain.
As for the Indy defense, since you're an incurable political junky, how about (humbly submitted for your approval):

    The Maginot Line
    The 38th parallel defense
The detente defense (if they're not very good)
The defense that struggles against fundamental offenses
    The Grand Ole Defense
    The duck and cover defense
    :p

    How about the Berlin Wall?
    NORAD?
The Patriot Missle? (since its going to blow up the Patriots offense)
    SAM (Sack, Attack, and Massacre)?
NATO ("Never Any Touchdowns for the Opposition")?

Ugh, these are getting pretty bad...

Wow, the MOST obvious choice didn't occur to me till late last night...

Blitzkreig! It perfectly describes both the offense (and now the stellar defense) of the Indianapolis Colts!

I'm VERY disappointed with the Eagles performance last night.

Too many mistakes, missed opportunities, and bad passes!
Luckily, one game does not a season make.:shiner:
